Septembre 2008 - Leading European assistance providers join forces in Astrum Assistance Alliance AG5 sociétés d’assistance européennes unissent leurs forces au sein d’ «Astrum Assistance Alliance»
EuroCross International (the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Bulgaria), FIDELIA Assistance (France), Mobi24 (Switzerland), ROLAND Assistance (Germany) and SOS International (the Nordic region), five major European assistance providers, have established a joint venture for the provision of international assistance services: Astrum Assistance Alliance AG, with its principal place of business in Zurich.
Each of the partners in the network holds a leading position as an assistance provider in its respective domestic markets. Through the set-up of Astrum, the perception of the partners as participants operating on a global scale is strengthened and their common international profile is enhanced. Astrum is currently represented in more than ten European countries with its own representative offices that are able to access an international network of over 100,000 service providers in more than 180 countries. In the case of medical emergencies or vehicle breakdowns, quick and uncomplicated assistance is ensured throughout all of Europe and beyond - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Presently over 40 million end users have access to the Astrum partner’s assistance services.
The Astrum initiative offers insurers, tour operators and other commercial clients such as banks, car manufacturers or leasing companies extensive possibilities when it comes to providing their range of services throughout Europe or worldwide, in order to expand their customer portfolio.
At the same time, the expenditure for clients is reduced, as Astrum services for various domestic markets can now be purchased from a single source and covered by one framework agreement.
By bundling volumes when purchasing services, Astrum is able to contribute to significant reductions in the cost of claims and thus offer even more attractive terms and conditions to its clients.
Astrum partners aspire to be leaders in the development of innovative assistance solutions, while benefiting from the each other’s experience. One of the important aims is to exchange and further develop knowledge and experience together. As a consequence, new ideas and products can be transferred quickly and economically from other countries and adapted to the respective domestic markets.
“Up to now our five assistance organisations have been able to assist domestic clients on a global scale. With the establishment of Astrum, we can furthermore offer clients with international operations the entire range of services for their international end users” explains Lex Mentink, Chairman of the newly established public limited company and Managing Director of EuroCross International. “The five companies want to offer their existing clients increased services on the one hand, and develop new business relations on the other.” More than 1,600 excellently trained staff stand behind the five partners and Astrum. The newly appointed Managing Director, Thorkild Lykke, brings extensive experience to the joint venture from his position as international network manager at SOS International.
